About
the Artist
Donielle Bailey Horst is an Ed.D. Student in Dance Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her multimodal approach to her Fine Arts practice as Educator, Choreographer, Writer, Entrepreneur, and Movement Practitioner is supported by dual MFA degrees in Choreography (Jacksonville University, Phi Kappa Phi) & Creative Writing (Arcadia University with Distinction). As Educator & Choreographer, Donielle was the Resident Guest Choreographer and Faculty member at Messiah University where she instructed ballet, jazz, & modern. In addition, she taught English Composition at Albright College. Donielle has lectured at Jacksonville University, The Institute of Classical & Modern Dance in Mumbai, India, Alvernia University’s Communications Department, and at the 2025 Lancaster Learns Conference and 2025 NDEO Conference, presenting her Practice-based-Research, “Unlocking the Unknown Via a Methodology of Play.” Most recently, Donielle presented her work, “Bridging the Gap: The Competitive/The Exploratory” at the NDEO’s Virtual Studio Summit.
As Writer, Donielle’s short story, “Watch Over Me,” was published in Isele Magazine’s online September 2023 issue. As Entrepreneur, she is Proprietor of the Horizons Dance Conservatory (20 years, www.HorizonsDance.com) where her heuristic approach to teaching is centered upon her lived experience. As Movement Practitioner, Donielle’s Pilates Reformer and Mat Certifications (Fletcher & Powerhouse) perpetuate her love of Contrology, which she has practiced for 20+ years. She instructs Pilates Reformer classes at Well + Wild and Club Pilates in Lehigh & Berks, County, Pa. She is also highly engaged in her Yoga practice and working toward a 200-hour certification.
